Life happenings

Not too much exciting going on here. I had an okay week at work with a few difficult days dealing with some incredibly rude customers. I have a hard time understanding how some people feel it's okay to treat other human beings. Gggrrrrrr!

Tomorrow celebrates 16 weeks of pregnancy. I feel as if I've felt the baby move a few times here and there but I'm not absolutely sure. I'm looking forward to the time where I feel movements that I know are little kicks. :)

Phil and I went to our town's Burning Mountain Festival last weekend in downtown New Castle. There was a band and about 15 booths or so. Pretty small town event. Today, we went to the Mountain Fair that I heard about yesterday at work. It's located in downtown Carbondale and Phil and I found it to be very similar to Strawberry Days. I've never seen so many little craft fairs as here in CO. I was driving in another little town, Silt today and saw that they have the Silt Hay Day coming up next weekend. I don't think we'll make it to that one.

Not much else to say. I'll try to post 16 week pictures tomorrow if I can get Phil to take some. Some days I feel like I hardly look pregnant and others I feel like I look pretty big. Fun fun fun.

OB Appointment & Baby Gifts

Today I had my 14 week appointment with my OB doctor. I had my 1st trimester genetic screening a few weeks ago and everything looks good. Yeah! Doctor and I were able to hear Baby's heartbeat on the Doppler. It brought a big smile to my face. While at the doctor's office, I found out that my doctor's primary nurse, Christy, was in a rollover accident on July 8th and was seriously injured. She's in ICU and I'm not sure if she's gained consciousness or not at this point. She had 2 young children at home. I'm sure their family would appreciate your prayers.

For Phil's birthday this week, his parents sent a box with a gift for him and some baby items. I thought the gifts were absolutely precious. They sent a diaper bag (no picture), a onsie that says "Grandpa Rules", a pair of baby socks and my favorites, two baby blankets from when Phil was a baby. The Mickey & Minnie blanket was hand cross-stitches by Phil's mom and his 1st dad before Phil was born. The pink and blue blanket was hand-made by his Aunt/Grandma Hazel (I'm not exactly sure about this one). I thought these were all precious gifts for our little one.

A few weeks ago, my mom sent my first baby items to me in the mail. She sent a little Winnie-the-Pooh hat and a swaddle outfit. Cute huh?

The theme I chose for the nursery is based on the book, "Guess How Much I Love You." When I was a child, my mom used to create my birthday cards and inside she'd draw a stick figure with it's arms all the way across the card and underneath she would write, I love you thhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssss much!!!!! I always loved those cards and used to try to recreate them when I made birthday/Christmas cards. Well, I told my parents that when I was in college and for my birthday one year my mom sent me the book, "Guess How Much I Love You." I loved it. Well, a few months ago, the local bookstore was having a 50% off sale on everything in the store and I stumbled across the baby book based on the book. Of course I couldn't pass it up. My mom is planning on painting four canvases of pictures I select from the book. We'll also add a few other details from the book into the room as well.

At some point, I'll have to post some pictures of the baby blankets I have from my dear Great Grandma Della who passed away just a year ago. She made over 400 baby blankets AFTER she turned 90, all of which she gave away! Amazing huh? She was so generous in all she did and is greatly missed by everyone in our family. Most of the baby blankets she made were given to the pregnancy crisis center.

The crib is coming along. I have it half built so far. :) Pics to come soon. I'll also post about the good buys I got at the thrift store today!

Baby Belly Pics-13 weeks 3 days

Here are some pictures of my slowly growing baby belly. I took these at 13 weeks 3 days. On Sunday, I will officially be into my 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Yeah! My next OB appointment is on Monday. We should be able to use the doppler at this point although I'm secretly hoping for another ultrasound too. I am still throwing up about every other day or so and feeling sick every day. I guess that's life being pregnant...for me anyways. This is my favorite and most comfortable pregnancy outfit right now.

The other week, I was looking for a crib in the papers and on ebay as my sister and niece are going to be coming to visit in August and we need somewhere for Bekah to sleep while she's here. I bid on a crib on ebay that still had two days left on it and I only upped the bid by less than $3 so I thought surely someone would outbid me. However, when I checked two days later, I had won the crib! So, I accidently bought this crib and got a better deal than I would have in the stores. It's a 3 in 1 crib which means it also converts to a toddler bed and a twin. The color didn't really match the picture online but I do like the crib still and I think it'll work great for Bekah and the baby. The last picture is the picture from ebay. We still haven't assembled the crib yet.

Here's a few pics to hold you over. Phil and I drove to a town named Meeker about an hour and a half from where we live. We went with Jessica, my co-worker, and her husband, Ben. I'll tell you more about it later when I feel more up to writing.

Well, here's my first baby bump pictures. From the front you can't really see anything and from the side you can just start to see the baby bump. I am exactly 12 weeks today. Enjoy!

Today

I read about the Glenwood Springs farmers market in the newspaper this week so Phil and I thought we'd go. Needless to say, we were a little disappointed. There were about 4-5 small booths with a small selection of fruits and veggies. I ended up buying an "organic" lemon square for $3.25. The market definitely wasn't as big as we were expecting. Then, we drove to Costco (it's about an hour away from us). We needed to return our camera that we bought on May 5th as the lense wasn't opening fully or closing fully. It's a nice camera but hopefully we won't have the same problem with our next one...we just exchanged it. While at Costco I started to feel pretty sick so I spent the whole drive home crouched in my seat hoping I wouldn't throw up in our rental car (our Audi's in the shop). After I wrote that last post about feeling better I promptly threw-up within an hour of writing it! Sad huh. Still having rough days but they're better than they were.

The UPS and downs of Pregnancy

Well, as one of my pregnant friends wrote, "I am ready to begin enjoying my pregnancy." Not that I haven't been excited to be pregnant of course, but I am finally seeing the light at the end of the morning sickness tunnel. I am now throwing up just a couple of times a week and have been feeling much better overall throughout the day. I am also not so tired that I have to take naps on every one of my lunch breaks at work. My tummy is just starting to show my pregnancy with a bit of a pudge under my bellybutton. So far, I'm still on a downward trend with my weight which I'm fine with as my pants are actually getting looser before they start to get tighter. On Sunday I will be 12 weeks already! Only 1 more week after that and I'm officially in the second trimester. Fun, fun, fun!

Strawberry Festival

A week ago, Phil and I went to the Strawberry Festival in Glenwood Springs. We had heard a lot about it but didn't really know what to expect. It was split into two sections. In one area of town was a large craft show with lots of vendors. The food booths were also over there. We enjoyed walking around, trying samples and eating some tasty chicken on a stick. We had purchased some tickets in town a few days prior for the rides. I know what you're thinking, a pregnant woman shouldn't be going on rides. We didn't do many and what we did were safe. We went on the swings, ferris wheel, walked through the fun house and went down the slide. All in all we had a nice time enjoying each other's company and the smells and sounds of the festival. It was pretty packed at the ride area as you can see from the picture taken on the ferris wheel. Early in the evening at the carnival area, Phil decided to pay $5 for a basket of rings to try to ring the bottle. I was very skeptical of him playing and the lady selling the rings said, "We've already had 2 winners today." Woopee...two winner's out of hundreds! I wasn't impressed. However, Phil graciously shared his basket of rings with me and I must admit, I did enjoy playing as well. When I had only two rings left, all of a sudden, one of the rings landed on the bottle and I shouted a very suprised, "I won, I won!" It was a pretty fun win. So, I was the proud third winner of the night and got to pick my prize. I chose a large tiger that we enjoyed touting around the carnival that night. Phil was very helpful and piggy-backed Tiger for much of the night. Probably the funniest part of all was Puma's reaction when we arrived home with Tiger. She came to greet us but when she saw Tiger she ran under the couch and started crying. She was terrified of the tiger. We put her in the bathroom with it so she could adjust but she just cowered in the corner. We moved the tiger over towards her and left the door open and the poor kitty was too terrified to even jump over the tiger to leave. She has warmed up to it quite a bit and will now even bite the tail. She's still not friends with it but she doesn't poof up her tail and raise her hackles when she sees it now. Phil and I had a great time at the Strawberry Festival and will look forward to going again in the future with our little one in our arms.
