Yesterday, as I was walking out the door, I found a package from my parents outside my front door. I also had an ebay package at the post office that I stopped by to pick up. :) My parents sent me a beautiful custom-made honeypot, two baby items (our first!), and a few other odds and ends. My ebay package had 21 pieces of maternity clothes that I got for a steal! It was great getting two fun boxes on one day. The best part is, I have today and tomorrow off so I'm able to stay home and CLEAN! With feeling sick all of the time, I tend to allow the piles to grow bigger than normal.
Although I definitely don't like it, I think I'm starting to get used to throwing up a few times a day. Somedays, like yesterday, I have really good days with little sickness and others, like today, I throw up multiple times. I know the payoff is absolutely worth it so I just keep reminding myself of the blessing growing inside of me.
The maternity clothes I got were fun to try on. A few pieces fit now but have growing room and a lot of them I'm sure I'll be growing into. I'll try to post pictures later of some of the clothes, the honeypot and the baby items. For now...I'm off to fold more laundry and run to the sink!!!

Postponed Plans
Phil and I were going to go rollerblading along the river today. It turned out to be a beautiful day but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I was on the couch for 1/2 the day. I threw up so hard today that I tweeked my back. Thankfully, I'm not throwing up every day but I do have morning sickness basically all day, every day. I'm still trying to figure out what helps my tummy and when i should eat. My OB prescribed a prenatal vitamin that should help but the pharmacy didn't have it in and won't get it until Tuesday. I also tried to buy ginger pills at the store but the grocery store here in town didn't have those either. :( At least the sickness means the baby should be growing! It's exciting to think that it's over 1/2 in long right now. I can't wait to see an ultrasound of our little one. I'll either have an ultrasound on 6/12 or 6/19 when I have my next OB appointments.
When we DO get to go rollerblading by the river...I'll make sure to take pictures for the blog!

A Wonderful Weekend
Phil and I wanted to find something fun to do this past weekend. We decided to take the Glenwood Springs gondola up to the top of the mountain and go to the caverns. The view was absolutely gorgeous. We purchased season passes because it wasn't much more than the normal pass and now when people come to visit, we can get discounted prices for them. We enjoyed the gondola ride on the way up and took a tour of the caverns. We had a new guide and we were his first tour ever! He did okay. I'm sure it will be even better next time when we get an experienced guide. There were many named formations including the "glowing cheeto." Check out the picture and I'm sure you'll be able to identify it. The favorite thing Phil and I did was go on the alpine slide two times. We blasted down the mountain. On the second time we didn't use the brakes at all and it was awesome! There were other things we didn't try that day but look forward to doing in the future (some of them when I'm no longer pregnant). There's a zip line, a HUGE over the mountain cliff swing, a bull ride, a climbing wall, horseback riding, a virtual conastoga wagon ride and soon there will be a petting zoo. Pretty cool stuff. We had a great time and would love to take freinds and family back to this fun place.

Morning Sickness
I was hoping I was one of the lucky few who didn't have morning sickness but it's official...I am sick. It's been getting worse since Friday but I ultimately am just excited that I'm pregnant. I have my first Dr.'s appointment on Thursday for a meet and greet. I've heard good things about this doctor and actually met someone at church today who also just found out she's pregnant with her second and she said she really likes the doctor I'm going to go to.

Mother's Day
Unfortunately, Phil and I are not in close proximity to any of our family at this time so we weren't able to be with either of our mom's for Mother's Day. However, we still managed to make a pretty great gift for both of our moms for Mother's Day this year. We decided to give them the "best Mother's Day gift ever." Unfortunately, as we let them know, their gift is backordered for a few months. Care to guess what it could be?
Guesses anyone?
Are you ready?...
If you haven't guessed by now...we are having a baby! So, on Mother's Day, we got to call our mom's and let them know they'd be having a grandbaby! This will be the first grandbaby in Phil's family and the second in mine. It was really fun getting to call everyone and give them the good news! We also called a lot of other family and friends as well. As my friend, Michaela, said, it must have something to do with the Colorado water. (Be ready Sarah!) We are both excited about what the the coming weeks, months and years will bring. I promise to keep all of my friends and family up-t0-date with news of our little one. :) We just found out on Friday and will most likely be due sometime in January. I'll keep you all posted as I learn more details.
On Friday, I decided I should figure out a creative way to tell Phil. So, I purchased a little pair of baby booties and wrapped them up and also made a baby dinner. What's a baby dinner you ask? Well, baby-back ribs, baby carrots, baby corn and baby potatoes of course. When he opened the present and saw the booties he said, "We're not pregnant are we?" Of course I told him we were and then I showed him the pregnancy test. It's been a fun start of our pregnancy.
Love,
Megan, Phil and Baby
Disclaimer: Phil and I called many of our friends and family to let them know the good news. I apologize if you didn't get a call and would have liked one. We'd love to hear from you though. Please leave a comment, send an email or give us a call.

The ABC’s Of Homemaking
My friend, Rachel, had this on her blog the other day and I thought it would be fun to do even though I don’t normally complete surveys. I’ve not updated for awhile and don’t really feel like I have much to post…so here it is. Enjoy!
The ABC’s Of Homemaking
Aprons—Y/N? If Y, what does your favorite look like?
Well, I only own one and it’s a cute spring green with white. I don’t wear it often because I usually forget I have it. But I do think it’s cute.
Baking—Favorite thing to bake
Molasses sugar cookies. This is my grandma’s recipe and it’s wonderful. Many of you have had them and love them. I especially love them hot out of the oven with a glass of cold milk. MMMmm!
Clothesline—Y/N?
No line. Condo’s don’t appreciate them and I’m not hanging laundry in my house. Personally, I prefer the dryer although I would love to air out the down comforters and pillows.
Donuts—Have you ever made them?
Hahaha…I tried. ONCE. I laugh because they were actually baked donuts and I preheated the oven. Unfortunately, my dad had left a brown paper bag in the oven which caught on fire and so when I opened the oven there were flames pouring out of it. I was terrified and didn’t know what to do so I ran next door and got my neighbor who was 9 mo. pregnant. She came over and sprayed a fire extinguisher on it which then when over the whole kitchen. Needless to say, I never made the donuts and never tried again. Life lesson…check the oven before you preheat it. (or…for my dad…remove your paper bags when you’re done with them!).
Every day – One homemaking thing you do every day.
Hmm…EVERY day? I almost always clean things up and put items away but honestly, I can’t say I do it every day.
Freezer—Do you have a separate deep freeze?
I would LOVE one. We had to get rid of our huge fridge/freezer when we moved from CA and our new one is much smaller. Someday….
Garbage Disposal – Y/N
Yup. I have one and it works great. (I even have a spray hose now that I love! I haven’t had one for years!
Handbook-what is your favorite homemaking resource?
Hmmm…I have all my favorite recipes typed on my computer. I refer to that quite a bit and enjoy my vita-mix cookbook.
Ironing—Love it or hate it? Or hate it but love the results?
Ironing is one of my least liked tasks. Let’s just say, I don’t iron unless it’s imperative! I tend to buy clothes that don’t need ironing. And if I happen to purchase something that needs to be ironed it hardly ever gets worn. Phil and I use a wrinkle spray which relaxes the material and actually does a decent job of making clothing presentable. It doesn’t look ironed but it improves the look.
Junk drawer – Y/N? Where is it?
Hmm…I can’t honestly say I have an actual junk drawer. I have different misc. drawers but they tend to have a theme. I like to be very organized. Everything has a place and eventually ends back up in that place. It makes it MUCH easier to find what I’m looking for. So, do actual junk drawer. Oh, I just remembered, we do have a basket under our coffee table for misc. items. Things that would normally be sitting on the table but that I don’t want to look at. That is the closest to a junk drawer that I have.
Kitchen - Color and decorating scheme
No real theme. I have a couple of the chef pics and some “homey” items decorating the kitchen. I have some warmer colored items with reds and oranges but nothing overpowering.
Love– What is your favorite part of homemaking?
Being a wife. I love making a good meal that my husband enjoys or doing something special for him that he enjoys. Marriage has been such a blessing and I can’t imagine being not-married at this point. I pray for many years to come.
Mop-Y/N?
On the few occasions that I mop, I get down on my hands and knees and scrub it with bleach water or ammonia. (Yes, I know not to mix the two). If I spill something or drip on my floor I try to clean it up right away.
Nylons – Wash by hand or in the washing machine?
Nylons? Yeah right! I didn’t even wear them for my December wedding. I do own a few pairs that are stuffed away somewhere for emergencies but I’ve not had an emergency worth wearing them for years. If I did wear them, they would go in the machine.
Oven— Do you use the window or open the oven to check?
Well, since I like to bake and opening the oven a lot will adjust the temp to much, I tend to turn on the light unless they’re almost ready to pull out and I have to test them.
Pizza-What do you put on yours?
First of all, grilled pizzas are really good. You should try them sometime. However, as far as ingredients go, I prefer pineapple on my pizza. I also like some more exotic ingredients like sun dried tomatoes, chicken, artichokes but don’t normally get them because Phil doesn’t like them.
Quiet – What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment?
Read my Bible or a book I’m enjoying. Don’t have any good books at the moment….any suggestions? We also just got cable so I’ve been watching more TV.
Recipe card box – Y/N? What does it look like?
I used to use my computer but over Christmas break I typed out all of my recipes and put them in a stand-up book I received from my Zachary grandparents for our wedding.
Style of house – What style is your house?
We live in a rented condo on the third floor. It’s a two bedroom with a HUGE loft and we love it. The views are beautiful. Most people that come visit us get pretty winded. I don’t mind the climb now but I’m sure I will if I have a baby and groceries to carry up someday. Hopefully, we’ll have a house some day. I hope the market out here drops rather than continues to grow.
Tablecloths or Placemats?
We just recently purchased placemats because we got a new black table and had black plates and it was a bit dark…so now, we use placemats which I like the look of although I don’t really like either placemats or tablecloths because you can’t just wipe them off.
Under the kitchen sink – Organized or toxic wasteland?
Organized…of course. Because I don’t have anywhere else for my cookie sheets and cutting boards to go, they’re down there now with my pot & pan lid holder and the soap for the dishwasher.
Vacuum—How many times per week.
Per week? Hahaha! We vacuum either when we see that we need it or right before guests come. I don’t feel like it gets very dirty with just the two of us. Puma doesn’t shed a lot either which is great.
Wash – How many loads of laundry do you do per week?
As little as I can get away with. I would say I usually do wash every 2 weeks or so. Now that I had 3 days off work each week, I’m trying to do the laundry on one of those days as well as a deep clean of the house. It’s awesome having that extra day to be at home!
Yard—Y/N? Who does what?
Well, our yard outside our new condo is still dirt. No landscaping has been done at this point. However, when it comes time, we won’t have to do a thing. Yippee! I have a small plant I got from one of my students and I’m trying very hard to keep it alive and so far I haven’t killed it but it definitely doesn’t look as good as it did when I got it. I don’t have a green thumb. Maybe someday when I have an actual yard I’ll be better at it.
ZZZ’s—What is your last homemaking task for the day before going to bed?
Usually cleaning up the kitchen and living room. I don’t always but I enjoy when my home is clean and organized.
