OB Appointment & Baby Gifts

Today I had my 14 week appointment with my OB doctor. I had my 1st trimester genetic screening a few weeks ago and everything looks good. Yeah! Doctor and I were able to hear Baby's heartbeat on the Doppler. It brought a big smile to my face. While at the doctor's office, I found out that my doctor's primary nurse, Christy, was in a rollover accident on July 8th and was seriously injured. She's in ICU and I'm not sure if she's gained consciousness or not at this point. She had 2 young children at home. I'm sure their family would appreciate your prayers.

For Phil's birthday this week, his parents sent a box with a gift for him and some baby items. I thought the gifts were absolutely precious. They sent a diaper bag (no picture), a onsie that says "Grandpa Rules", a pair of baby socks and my favorites, two baby blankets from when Phil was a baby. The Mickey & Minnie blanket was hand cross-stitches by Phil's mom and his 1st dad before Phil was born. The pink and blue blanket was hand-made by his Aunt/Grandma Hazel (I'm not exactly sure about this one). I thought these were all precious gifts for our little one.

A few weeks ago, my mom sent my first baby items to me in the mail. She sent a little Winnie-the-Pooh hat and a swaddle outfit. Cute huh?

The theme I chose for the nursery is based on the book, "Guess How Much I Love You." When I was a child, my mom used to create my birthday cards and inside she'd draw a stick figure with it's arms all the way across the card and underneath she would write, I love you thhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssss much!!!!! I always loved those cards and used to try to recreate them when I made birthday/Christmas cards. Well, I told my parents that when I was in college and for my birthday one year my mom sent me the book, "Guess How Much I Love You." I loved it. Well, a few months ago, the local bookstore was having a 50% off sale on everything in the store and I stumbled across the baby book based on the book. Of course I couldn't pass it up. My mom is planning on painting four canvases of pictures I select from the book. We'll also add a few other details from the book into the room as well.

At some point, I'll have to post some pictures of the baby blankets I have from my dear Great Grandma Della who passed away just a year ago. She made over 400 baby blankets AFTER she turned 90, all of which she gave away! Amazing huh? She was so generous in all she did and is greatly missed by everyone in our family. Most of the baby blankets she made were given to the pregnancy crisis center.

The crib is coming along. I have it half built so far. :) Pics to come soon. I'll also post about the good buys I got at the thrift store today!

my goodness, you are getting a lot done early! which is good! I love the baby gifts, that is so sweet. And l like the idea of you doing a theme that is near and dear to your heart, instead of doing a theme that everyone else has, that is very special :)

My sis and niece are coming to visit in about 3 weeks...YEAH!!! So, I need to get the crib up and working by that point otherwise Bekah won't have anywhere to sleep. That's really my only priority at this point. Now I just have to find a mattress.

I think it is great to have a theme that makes you smile. I need to start preparing for the babe too.
