Lots of news...

This is a long one but I have a lot to say so sit back and get comfy if you're going to read it.

Some of you knew that Taeya's only surviving great-great grandma wasn't doing well lately. She had an infection in her leg and would have to have it amputated to save her life. She chose not to because she lived a long, full life and didn't want to go through something like that. She passed away this past Thursday. If you'd like to read more about her, click here. About two months ago, she mailed me a beautiful little dress that her daughter (Taeya's great Grandma Joyce) had worn as a baby. She asked that I take a picture of Taeya in the dress and send a copy to both of them. I took the pictures and planned on sending a nice copy to all of the grandma's for Mother's Day. When I found out Grandma GG didn't have much longer to live, we took the photos to the post office and sent them to her quickly to ensure that she would be able to see them. She was able to get the pictures in time but I am sad that I never got to meet her and she never got to see her only great-great grandaughter in person.

It was one year ago tomorrow 5.11.07 that I found out that I was expecting. I think it's pretty neat that the one year anniversary falls on Mother's Day. (Last year it was 2 days before Mother's Day and we told all of the family on Mother's Day). It seems like so long ago now. I was reflecting today on all of the morning sickness I had for all of those months. It's so wonderful NOT throwing up 24/7 anymore and having the reward of a beautiful, healthy baby to love and cuddle. It has been a wonderful journey and I have loved every minute of being a mother. Some days are harder than others but all are rewarding. Each evening, after Taeya is asleep, I love to walk into her room and touch her softly and thank the Lord for her. I am truly blessed to be her mother.

While on the sleep topic, Sarah M. asked how sleeping through the night is going. Taeya is doing very well for the most part. When she occasionally wakes up a few hours after going to sleep, I've been putting her pacifier back in and handing her the little bunny she loves to cuddle while she sleeps. Almost every-time she goes right back to sleep without needing anything else. Most nights, she's been sleeping from 7 or 8 all the way until 4 or 5:30. At that point, I've been giving her a quick feed and putting her back to bed. She then wakes up between 7 and 8:30. So, she's been sleeping longer and is only eating a small amount once a night. Seems like progress is being made. I'm happy with it anyways.

Notice anything different about Taeya? She had a big day today. The first thing we did was go to a local free fingerprinting, carseat check for kids at a local dealership. We originally went just so the sheriff's dept could check our carseat to make sure everything looked good with how it was installed. We weren't going to do the fingerprinting because we assumed she was too small. They said if she was at least 3 months they could do it so we had it done. She did fine but cried because she didn't like her hands being held still.

We then got our carseat checked. Everything looked fine but she cried during this too.

As I blogged about awhile back, we wanted to get Taeya's ears pierced before she got too old. I had forgotten about it for awhile but remembered this week so we decided to do it today as well. She cried when they were being done but calmed down very quickly afterwords. Phil and I think they look very cute and they look like they're positioned well...no mistakes for which we're thankful. The lady piercing her ears had lots of practice and did very well with Taeya. They gave her a certificate for being brave. I think it's funny because it says "This award is presented to Taeya B. C. for very special behavior while getting your ears pierced." Hahaha Very Special Behavior can mean a myriad of things! Anyways, it's done, looks great and she doesn't even notice that she has them.

Random 4 month pictures

These pictures are from the past couple of weeks. Some are from church the past two Sunday's. Taeya had the first of her 4 month vaccs done yesterday. (I'm splitting them up this time). She was a trooper and only cried on the second shot for about three seconds. We did it at the Health Dept where it cost us $20 instead of $940 like her first shots at the doctor's office. Crazy huh? In case you're wondering what's on Phil's ears...he jokingly picked up a pair of Taeya's socks and put them on as earwarmers. :) They fit well don't you think? In the last two pictures, Taeya is trying very hard to watch the basketball game that Phil was watching.

Colorado Beauty

It's finally starting to warm up a bit in CO. I had a park play-time with a friend last week and then it snowed two days later! Crazy weather. The days are starting to look pretty nice but it's still been a bit windy. Yesterday afternoon, there was cloud cover but it wasn't super cold so I decided to take Taeya outside to get some pictures with the beautiful tiny purple flowers that are growning everywhere. I couldn't convince Phil to join me at first but after coming back up and requesting that he come again, he did. For a minute while we were out there, it started to get pretty windy and even sprinkled a tiny bit. We were ready to head back inside and it stopped so we took a few more pictures. I wish we had another person or a tri-pod so we could have gotten a family picture. Enjoy.

Taeya wasn't in her super happy mood so we only got one smile. I think she was just trying to take it all in as she's never been in grass/flowers before and she didn't know what to make of the wind either.

That wind is pretty strong!

Look at the pretty flowers!
Smell the pretty flowers.

Hug the pretty flowers.

Squeeze the pretty flowers.

Taste the pretty flowers.

Please remember to check out Everyday Meals for easy meal ideas. Thank you to friends who have joined! Thank you, thank you if you've posted recipe ideas as well.

What I Was Doing...

What I was doing 20 years ago: (I added this one for fun)
I was in Kindergarten learning to read and I loved playing with my little buddy, Drew Rile, at BBC. We often played Batman and Robin and lept all over the dorm lounge with towels pinned around our necks. I learned to ride a bike in K as well...not sure what month though.

What I was doing 10 years ago:
I was a Sophomore in HS at Rincon Valley Christian. I was involved in youth group, I went to Mexico for the first time on a mission trip, loved hanging out with my girlfriends and I was working on getting my lifeguard certification. I also sprained my ankle bad enough to need to be casted. I only remember that because I couldn't complete my lifeguard training with my class because I couldn't get in the water. I finished with the next class. (the pic was from my Junior year but taken about 9 1/2 years ago so it'll have to do).
What I was doing 5 years ago:
I was finishing my Junior year at the local community college in Santa Clarita. This was the only semester of my college years that I didnt' attend The Master's College because I wanted to save money and I also wanted an Arts emphasis. I took 21 units that semester and it was actually one of my easiest semesters of college. Phil and I had been dating for a year and a half at this point and were definitely well on our way towards marriage. We were both very active in our FCC Bible Study...memories I treasure. I loved the diverse group that we were made up of, the way we studied the Word so in depth, and the fun games of dice that we played weekly. Phil and I went to Santa Monica and rollerbladed frequently during this time.

What I was doing 1 year ago:
I had just moved to CO at the beginning of April and had started my job at the vet clinic about two weeks previously. Although I didn't know it, I was about 3 weeks pregnant with Taeya as well. I found out the day before Mother's Day that I was expecting.

What I was doing yesterday:
Went to work early as I had a good night sleep and didn't have appointments/meetings before work. Had a good day working at the vet clinic with Taeya and left early since I started early. I then went to a bookstore that I had a gift certificate for and purchased a Mother Goose Storybook for Taeya. I came home and made dinner and enjoyed time with my hubby and baby girl.

I enjoy:
spending time with Phil and Taeya, chatting with my family on Skype, working with photos and making books on Shutterfly, baking, having a clean home, SLEEP, fellowship with other believers, animals, getting backrubs, seeing family, having people over, playing Settlers (and winning!), math, teaching swimlessons, reading books (although I haven't been lately because I need to find some good books), blogging, eating yummy food, snowboarding, doing outside activities and the smell and beauty of fresh spring days outside!

5 TV shows I love:
Extreme Home Makeover, Find Your Style, Dinner Impossible, John & Kate + Eight, My First Place

5 things I hate:

Crunchy onions in smooth foods, People who are rude and think the world should live for what they want and if it doesn't they scream and yell at whoever they can, bad drivers, paying rent and never seeing the money again, throwing up

5 biggest joys in my life:
The smiles on my daughter's face, my husband's love for me, knowing that the Lord's love is unconditional and He's saved me by grace, spending time with my family (especially my sister), having health and being able to enjoy life

I tag: Sarah, Rachel, Amanda, Becky, and anyone else who would like to participate. It's really fun!
