Funny Story...and true

Tonight as Phil and I were driving home from Mammoth Mountain, he thought of a story he didn't think he had told me. He prefaced it by, "Did I tell you about the time I got pulled over in the ERV a few months ago?" (The ERV is his work vehicle he drives). I, of course, was very surprised that he had been pulled over and didn't tell me about it until now. Anyways, here's the story.

"I was driving back to work from Lancaster and I was in the fast lane. All of a sudden, a police car turns on his siren and pulls me over.

He asked me, 'Do you know why I pulled you over?'

"Um no." (Phil told me he had his cruise control on and he was driving behind someone going pretty slow).

The policeman said, "You were in the carpool lane and you need at least two people to be in the carpool lane."

Phil replies with, "You only need two people if it's between 5AM-9AM. It says so on the signs." (It was mid-afternoon).

The policeman goes, "Oh, hold on a minute." He walks back to his car and goes back to Phil and says, "Okay, you can go now."

Isn't that hilarious!!?? The policeman pulled him over for being in the carpool lane even though it wasn't during the carpool lane times. Poor guy. He must have been new to the area. Phil said he busted up laughing as soon as he drove away. :)

That is so funny. I bet that guy felt a little foolish when he got back into his vehicle. Hope Phil wasn't laughing until he left. I wish I could have been there.

That is great! The poor police officer though. I would have felt so stupid!! But it makes for a great story! :o)

Megan,
When you're teaching again you can use this as an illustration of how helpful reading can be! :)

Glad you had LOTS of snow at Mammouth -- California is at least sending you away in style. :)

I too felt a bit of empathy for the poor police officer. Then I laughed at him!
