Taeya Update

Well folks, she cries! Today was her first day of semi-fussiness in the afternoon and all out bawling tonight. Our little angel isn't perfect after all. :)

This morning, she had her first doctor's appointment. They weighed her and she weighed 5 lbs 6.6 oz. Although this is a drop from her birthweight it's a gain from when she was discharged from the hospital. She was so good at the office and didn't cry even when stripped naked. The nurse was suprised. Afterwords, we stopped by Phil's office to show her off and get some directions off the computer Phil needed for the work Christmas party we're going to this weekend.

This evening, I must admit I had some fun taking photos of our little one. We're going to try to get some pics for a baby announcement tomorrow. I'll post some of those pictures later.

I have a funny story I'll try to remember to tell tomorrow. It made me laugh so hard I had to hold my c-section incision because it hurt.

Random

I love having a teeny little baby. She's precious.

When I was in the hospital, I just loved how all of the doctors and nurses obviously enjoyed our beautiful daughter.

Some quotes from the hospital I don't want to forget:

For being such a good size, she sure had a piddley umbilical cord. -Dr. Kingston, delivery doctor

She's the talk of the ward. All the nurses are stopping by to see how cute she is. -One of the nurses shortly after Taeya was born. (They like tiny babies too).

Even Dr. ______, the anesthesiologist, couldn't keep his hands off of her while she was in the nursery. -Lenea, discharge nurse

Her cries sound like a little piggie.-One of the nurses

Oh, I did see her in the nursery. She's the one with the funny cry.-One of the nurses

Home and Resting

Taeya's going home outfit

Mommy and Baby ready to head home

Taeya is a bit small for her carrier. She's got lots of room to grow.
Daddy making sure his little girl is all taken care of.

I'm getting ready to go to bed so this won't be a long post. I'll put another up tomorrow. We were discharged from the hospital after a very nice stay. We stopped by Target on the way home for some supplies we needed. While there we ran into some friends who were shocked to see us out and about. We got home about 3:30 or so and Taeya and I took a nice nap while Phil unloaded the car and put everything away. Daddy's been a HUGE help. I should have babies more frequently so I can see him do the dishes and clean the kitchen. *big grin* We had a yummy meal brought to us by Pastor Eddie and his wife, Denise. They were able to spend a bit more time with Taeya when they brought dinner over which was nice.

Aren't I looking cute?

Taeya at 2 Days

Well, life continues to be amazing. Taeya makes us laugh with her adorable faces and continues to be so content. We could have gone home today but we opted for one more day of rest in the hospital. If everything looks good and Taeya's weight hasn't dropped too low we'll be heading home tomorrow afternoon.

Some observations: she has the same sneezes as her mom, grandma Laurie, great grandpa Chuck and great great grandma Della. She sneezes multiple times almost every time she sneezes just like them. Taeya has Megan's mouth and ears and Phil's nose. I think her eyes are eventually going to be Phil's green color. Right now they look blue at times and green at others. Phil is officially an amazing swaddler. He can swaddle Taeya as good as the nurses and he just learned how two days ago. ;) He went home tonight to get one last good night's rest before the many sleepless ones to come. He usually likes to have some time alone but he said when he got there he missed us and wanted to know how Taeya and I were doing. *so sweet* He's a WONDERFUL Daddy and has been so helpful with everything.

I tried to get some full body pics of Taeya today as I was changing her. She has long skinny legs that she likes to bend into a froggie position. I took some pictures of her wrinkley feet and hands. Look at her long nails. Already looks like she's had a french manicure. You can see her thick hair at the back of her head and how it's thin and fuzzy on top. I hope you laugh as much as I did at the picture of her sticking out her tongue! What a face! We had our first visitors today. Pastor Eddie and his wife, Denise came to see us. She was very well behaved at first and so alert but then the nurse came to check both of us out and said it was about time for Taeya to be fed. We managed to get a picture of Taeya with both of them but as you can see it was time for lunch. Evidence that she does cry...albeit rarely.

I just found out from Phil that Grandma Terry (Phil's mom) will be flying out to see us next week for a short time. I'm so excited that she gets to come before May when Phil's family is coming for a vacation and to meet Taeya. I'm sure you're super excited Grandma! We'll look forward to the time we'll have with you. My parents are going to keep their original date and come out January 17th. It'll be wonderful to have them then as Phil will be back to work at that point.

Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do!

More Baby...

We had a wonderful day with Taeya today. She has been such a content baby since she was born. I am doing wonderful as I recover from my c-section. My pain has been very minimal. I'm in the middle of sending out an email to everyone in my email list but yahoo is preventing me from sending it to everyone so I'm going to post it here as well. It's basically my view of what happened yesterday. Very similar to Phil's but with a slightly different perspective. Enjoy the pictures. The second picture is of Taeya with the doctor who delivered her, Dr. Kingston. All the others you should be able to figure out.

Dear Friends and Family,

We wanted to let everyone know that we became proud parents to a beautiful little girl yesterday afternoon. Taeya Brynn Camp was born by c-section at 12:28 pm. She weighed in at 5 lbs 14 oz and is 18 ½ inches long. She is absolutely an adorable baby and has already captured our hearts. If you are interested in reading about Taeya’s early birth, the story is below.

I (Megan) went in for a scheduled version (where they try to turn the baby because she was breech). They did an ultrasound and everything looked good so they started turning the baby. She was about ½ way turned when her heart rate dropped suddenly from 160 to 40. Within seconds the number of people in the room tripled. Phil and I were both very surprised. They stopped the version and allowed her to turn back. In the meantime, they immediately started me on oxygen and fluids. Although her heart-rate did return back to about 140 in just a short time, the doctor decided that it was probably best to do an immediate c-section. (This is why the version was scheduled at 37 ½ weeks when the baby is considered full-term.) So, although it wasn’t an emergency c-section it was certainly a fast and unscheduled c-section. I had packed my hospital bag on Christmas Day and the morning of the version I debated whether we should bring it or not. Thankfully, we chose to bring it “just in case.”  Phil still had to run home after the birth for some other necessities but we were mostly prepared.

Everything happened very quickly from that point on. They wheeled me into the OR at 12:05 and gave me a spinal while Phil changed into scrubs. He came out and didn’t know where everyone was. I made sure to remind the person getting Phil to have him bring the camera.  After the spinal, the anesthesiologist said “You’ll have a baby in about 2-3 minutes.” I was very surprised by this! She said, “They’ve already made a nice big cut in your abdomen.” (I didn’t know they had even begun!) Phil got to the OR with the camera just as they were pulling Taeya out. He snapped a few pictures and was able to go with her to the nursery while they stitched me up. I was out of the OR at 1:04 just 59 minutes after I had entered. It was a bit of a whirlwind for us and we thank the Lord that everything turned out so well.

Many of you know that previous ultrasounds have indicated our baby would be pretty small and I’ve been going for tri-weekly appointments to check on her. They were pleasantly surprised with how big she actually was. Although she is a small baby she’s not as small as they expected and she’s doing great in every way. They told us today that we may be heading home tomorrow!!

I praise the Lord that I have been recovery very well. I have very little pain where they did the c-section. I’ve only needed 3 pain pills since the surgery and more to help my shoulder muscles relax than because of the c-section. I have been up, showered and walking around today.

Our little Taeya is an angel of a baby so far. All the nurses and doctors “oooh” and “aah” over how cute she is. She has hardly cried except at birth, during her bath and one or two other times. She has a funny little squeaky cry that one of the nurses said sounds like a little piggy. I thought it sounded like a little duck. She’s content just to eat, sleep and cuddle. She’s very alert when awake and looks at her parents and surroundings. Both Phil and I have fallen so in love with her! Although I know the days ahead will bring less sleep and the joys of learning to be first time parents, we are excited to take this little one home and be the best parents we can be with the Lord’s help.

If you are interested in reading Phil’s account of yesterday, please visit my blog at www.pmcamp.blospot.com. He did a great job writing of the birth from his perspective and there’s some adorable pictures of Taeya. We’ll try to upload some more pictures tonight.

Thank you if you prayed for the version. Although it wasn’t exactly what we had expected the results are absolutely wonderful!

Love to all,
Phillip, Megan and baby Taeya

Suprise!!! We Have a Baby

Father's Post :)
*****************
Baby's Name: Taeya Brynn Camp
Weight: 5 lb 14 ounces
Length: 18.5 inches
Time Born: 12:28pm

My view:

Well, I figured since Megan is drugged up and a little queasy I would do this post for her, and when she is able she can add a little bit. First off, Megan had to have an unscheduled c-section this afternoon right after Taeya was suppost to just be "turned". Actually, Taeya only did about half a turn and her heart rate started to drop dramatically from 160 bpm to around 40 bpm. At this point the doctors stopped turning the the baby and hit the "alarm" button. To my suprise, within 20 seconds there were at least fifteen people in the room, most of which I had not seen when I entered the birthing center, and I swear I even saw one coming out of the private bathroom to my left which I had just happened to use 1 minute before and there was no one there. This led me to believe that there are secret passages in this hospital where nurses and doctors hide in waiting for alarm buttons to go off so they can pop out and scare you at a moments notice.
Anyways, at this point they all decided to stare at the monitor and watch the baby's heart rate while deciding whether or not to do an emergency c-section. It was a strange moment of silence but there was a sigh of relief as the baby's heart rate started to climb again and over a period of about 5 minutes it went back up to about 130 bpm. At this point it appeared everything was heading back to normal but the lead doctor decided to get the baby out just to be safe.
By this time they had already hooked Megan up to an iv and wheeled her out of the room. A nurse "jogged" by and threw a bunch of scubs at me and said put these on. As she was quite large and menancing I did what she asked but when I exited the restroom everyone was no where to be found. I aimlessly wandered around the family birthing center for several minutes searching for my wife until I ran into the same menacing nurse and politely asked where I could find my wife:) she kindly dragged me down the hall and sat me down in a chair to wait in front of some locked doors for what felt like an eternity but was actually only about 5 minutes. At this point I was dragged into the operating room and told to walk here and stand there and dont touch anything! The nurse kidly reminded me that I had forgotten the camera that I was commanded by my wife not to forget. I ran out to grab it and Im glad I ran because by the time I got back baby was already comin out:) I was able to snap a few photos and then was able to escort our new baby Taeya down to the nursery while Megan was sown up.
It all flew by so fast I'm still trying to remember everthing that happened but it was a wonderful experience. Megan is doing well in the recovery room and feeding the baby as I type. Baby is doing great and the only issue right now is keeping her body temperature up as she is quite small with not a lot of fat insulation:) Per the nurse, it appears we will have an extended stay in the hospital for 3-4 days for Megan to recover. Photos will be coming up slowly as the wireless internet connection in the hospital is not what you would call uhh quick! Enjoy :>)

Merry Christmas

We managed to get a decent Christmas photo today. Puma wasn't too excited about it but she survived. We had a lovely, quiet Christmas day at home celebrating the Lord's birth. Hope you had a special day!

Tomorrow we go try to turn this baby. :) I'm excited to see what happens! Be praying!

Baby News

Well, this week I have appointments at the doctor's office or hospital every weekday except for Tuesday. Tomorrow, Phil and I are going to the hospital for another non-stress test (NST). Christmas day we have no appointments. On Wednesday, I would appreciate your prayers as they are going to try to turn the baby. This process is called a version. They give me a drug to help my muscles relax, although it also makes me kind of jittery I hear. Then they do an ultrasound to find out where the baby is and the doctor pushes on her head and bottom and tries to get her to turn. (See picture for a visual). I'm not really worried about it but I do hope that it works. I've heard that it can be pretty painful and it only has about a 50% chance of working. Since she's a small baby, I'm hoping that her size will help her turn easier. If it works, it means that I will not have to have a scheduled c-section. If there are any complications during the version, it can mean an emergency c-section (which is why it's done in the hospital after 37 weeks when the baby is considered full-term). If the baby doesn't turn, we'll be scheduling a c-section one week before my due date. So, basically, I can have this baby anytime between the 26th to my due-date or beyond! After Wednesday, we'll have a better idea of when to expect this little one to come.

On Thursday, I have another NST and Friday a doctor's appt. w/ultrasound. I'm going to see if I can get my Thursday/Friday appointments taken care of on Wednesday so I don't have to go in so much.

We're getting very excited to meet our little girl. Which by the way we were able to confirm again through ultrasound last week. We've been trying to check and make sure she's a girl for awhile now but she's always sitting really low in my pelvis which makes it difficult to see anything. However, at the last ultrasound appointment we looked again because she was higher than normal and we're very confident that we're having a girl. If for some reason we have a boy, he's going to be wearing an aweful lot of pink!

I hope all of my readers have a very Merry Christmas! I wish we could be spending the holidays with our families. Hopefully, next year we'll have that opportunity.
As we enjoy this season of blessings, may we remember the best gift ever given, Jesus Christ. Please remember to lift us up in prayer on Wednesday morning. We're scheduled to do the version at 10:30 Mountain time.

Three Year Anniversary & Pregnancy Pics

Phil and I are celebrating our 3 year anniversary today. :) I thank the Lord for my husband and his love for me. We have had three wonderful years of marriage and we are both so excited about the blessing of a baby to add to our family. I love you Phillip and I am so glad the Lord brought us together when He did. May we celebrate many more years together!

I took some pics last week and today of the baby belly. It doesn't seem like my belly's changing much these days but I know some of you want pics regardless so here they are. :)

Tomorrow I have my next ultrasound and doctor's appointment. :) We find out when we're going to be trying to turn this baby as well.
