Suprise!!! We Have a Baby

Father's Post :)
*****************
Baby's Name: Taeya Brynn Camp
Weight: 5 lb 14 ounces
Length: 18.5 inches
Time Born: 12:28pm

My view:

Well, I figured since Megan is drugged up and a little queasy I would do this post for her, and when she is able she can add a little bit. First off, Megan had to have an unscheduled c-section this afternoon right after Taeya was suppost to just be "turned". Actually, Taeya only did about half a turn and her heart rate started to drop dramatically from 160 bpm to around 40 bpm. At this point the doctors stopped turning the the baby and hit the "alarm" button. To my suprise, within 20 seconds there were at least fifteen people in the room, most of which I had not seen when I entered the birthing center, and I swear I even saw one coming out of the private bathroom to my left which I had just happened to use 1 minute before and there was no one there. This led me to believe that there are secret passages in this hospital where nurses and doctors hide in waiting for alarm buttons to go off so they can pop out and scare you at a moments notice.
Anyways, at this point they all decided to stare at the monitor and watch the baby's heart rate while deciding whether or not to do an emergency c-section. It was a strange moment of silence but there was a sigh of relief as the baby's heart rate started to climb again and over a period of about 5 minutes it went back up to about 130 bpm. At this point it appeared everything was heading back to normal but the lead doctor decided to get the baby out just to be safe.
By this time they had already hooked Megan up to an iv and wheeled her out of the room. A nurse "jogged" by and threw a bunch of scubs at me and said put these on. As she was quite large and menancing I did what she asked but when I exited the restroom everyone was no where to be found. I aimlessly wandered around the family birthing center for several minutes searching for my wife until I ran into the same menacing nurse and politely asked where I could find my wife:) she kindly dragged me down the hall and sat me down in a chair to wait in front of some locked doors for what felt like an eternity but was actually only about 5 minutes. At this point I was dragged into the operating room and told to walk here and stand there and dont touch anything! The nurse kidly reminded me that I had forgotten the camera that I was commanded by my wife not to forget. I ran out to grab it and Im glad I ran because by the time I got back baby was already comin out:) I was able to snap a few photos and then was able to escort our new baby Taeya down to the nursery while Megan was sown up.
It all flew by so fast I'm still trying to remember everthing that happened but it was a wonderful experience. Megan is doing well in the recovery room and feeding the baby as I type. Baby is doing great and the only issue right now is keeping her body temperature up as she is quite small with not a lot of fat insulation:) Per the nurse, it appears we will have an extended stay in the hospital for 3-4 days for Megan to recover. Photos will be coming up slowly as the wireless internet connection in the hospital is not what you would call uhh quick! Enjoy :>)

40, good golly that is scary. I wouldn't have been able to sleep a wink until she was born after seeing that!! I'm so glad your little girl is here safe and sound in her Mommy and Daddy's arms. She's still a nice size.

I can't wait to watch her grow. Our little ones are only two days apart!

Congratulations!! And she is definitely bigger than what I thought she would be at this point of gestation based on what you were saying about your ultrasounds!! Jaydin was born at 37 weeks 3 days also and he was only 5 lbs 7 oz and was also 18.5 inches and we never had any concerns about his weight or growth prior to that!!

God is definitely good and it is great to hear that Taeya (I LOVE the name by the way) was born healthy and that you are now a family!!
