Shoe Survery-Please participate!

As I walk outside, I am beginning to feel like Fall is approaching. I'm excited for the cooler weather, the crisp, clean air and the changing of the leaves. However, with the cold, I realize I need to make a few changes to Taeya's wardrobe. #1 change being that I need to buy her shoes. My darling girl has gone barefoot all summer except at night when she wears her pj's with feet or her sleepsack.

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you've probably noticed that I like saving money and getting good deals. So, I'm asking my blog readers for some advice. If you have children, please tell me where you purchase your children's shoes, what's the average price you end up paying, if there's any good online company's to buy from, if you have shoes you want to donate to Taeya (I'm only partially kidding) or anything else that would be helpful to me as I delve into the infant shoe world. Oh, and please do tell me what brand of infant toddler shoes you like the best and why.

Thank you in advance for sharing any thoughts. I'm sure my little girl will greatly appreciate it (as would her mother).

I never put shoes on my kids until they were walking, then only when they were walking outside. I buy all my kids shoes at Stride Rite. he have high quality shoes. I know it gets really cold there so you might want to look into a pair of Robeez. They're made of soft leather and will help keep her feet warm and her socks on. Plus they're really easy to crawl in. They are a little pricey so look at Ebay. I hope that helps!

Hey Megan-

If my kids aren't walking, I'll usually buy a cheap pair of shoes just to keep their feet warm (ebay is a good place to check or just go to Target). Once they are walking, I only buy stride rite...they cost a little more, but they are supposed to be really good for their feet (check out their outlet stores or ebay).:)

I never bought stride rights because I could never afford them.....and Ellie walked at 11 months and never had a single issue. I am a cheap one! I go to Once Upon a Child a lot, as well as EBay. I would reccomend Robeez.....very in right now. But, they are super easy to get on and very flexible as well. Ellie's feet ALWAYS had shoes on them simply because I thought they were the cutest things ever :) Good luck!

P.S. I am sorry I don't comment a lot. I do love reading your site and appreciate your comments on mine :)

MiniStar at Target. They are a cheaper form of Robeez like Alicia said. I LOVE them. Especially in the winter. They are made of leather so they keep feetsies nice and warm. Plus it's great to learn to stand and walk in because they don't have thick soles. It's practically like not wearing shoes. Oh and they stay on REALLY well. They can't kick them off because of the elastic.

I also really really like Pedipeds. But they are pricey. We got some for George's birthday thankfully but I'm eyeing some more I'd like :)

I'd start with the Target MiniStars, though.

Hey there! I didn't put my kids in shoes until they walked, and although I've heard StrideRite makes excellent shoes, I can swallow paying that much for a pair of shoes that my kids are going to outgrow so quickly. Sooo....I love Target and Old Navy, plus good sales at Gap...occasionally Walmart, Payless and of course, eBay. There is a store here called Children's Orchard that sells very gently used clothes. I kinda get grossed out about used shoes when I don't know the person, but this store only takes shoes that basically have no wear, so sometimes I look there. Oh..and Marshalls/TJ Maxx. I have found a few great deals on tennis shoes at Nike and New Balance outlets. One thing to consider though.... I can justify in my mind spending a little bit more on things when I know my other kids will wear them. But...that would mean you'd have to have another girl and the older they get, the more worn things are. :) Good luck! Oh...and I think, on average, I spend about $15/per pair, give or take a few.

If you shop for Stride Rite shoes on ebay or at an outlet store, you can get them from around $18-25/pair. Also you may be able to find a decent pair at a Once Upon a Child (if you have one ) or at a garage sale. :)

We love Robeez - sounds like several people above like the ones from Target - I have not gotten them as I was advised by several people that they don't wash well at all - - -and that Robeez do - and I can say the Robeez wash well and keep her feet warm. We are walking now - so I am looking at shoes for Allie - she really only wore Robeez prior to that (from family as gifts :) ) Ebay is a great source and I also got Allie some almost new shoes at a children's consignment store. Are the ones in the pic you posted Squeaky Shoes - they look like it - adorable. Allie has such tiny feet we are having a hard time finding shoes to fit her. She is 11 months and wearing a size 1 maybe - - - on a stretch a 2.

I like the leather shoes. Basically something to keep the socks on (the leather keeps their feet warm too)
www.shooshoosusa.com is my favorite place and they have a bunch of their ADORABLE girl styles on sale for $15 or less, which is about wholesale price. They run a little big so don't be tempted to upsize, she'd probably be a medium and be able to wear them for quite a while.

Robeez or the target brand ones are great too. I loved our pedipeds too.
