Taeya's Snoring
The pics are from just after Taeya's last bath as she was all snuggled up on me and wearing her new sleeper from Great Grandma & Grandpa Zachary.
The other day Taeya had fallen asleep downstairs in the living room so I went up to our loft to work on some filing. The TV was turned on downstairs not super loud but loud enough to hear upstairs. After a little while, I start hearing these cute little snore type noises coming from Taeya. I could hear them all the way upstairs and over the TV! She makes them occassionally but not everytime she sleeps. I was able to get out my camera and capture some of her cuteness. Hope you can hear the snores.
I can't get the video to work in blogger and it's taking too long in YouTube (it's 5:41 AM) so I'm going to bed and will finish uploaded it when I wake up later.
*I tried uploading the video through blogger yet again and it went through all of the steps yet when I published it, it didn't show up...just a blank box with a red x in it. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

Presidential View Quiz
I found this website interesting. You answer 14 questions and it tells you what presidential candidate(s) closely align with your viewpoint. It tells you what issues they agree with you on and where their differences are. Check it out.

One Month Old
Today is Taeya's one month birthday. What a wonderful month it has been. Phil and I have so thoroughly enjoyed spending time with our little girl, holding, snuggling and observing her. She is generally such a happy and content baby. With such a good little girl, the adjustment of adding a third member to our family went very smoothly. We also loved having Grandma Z and Nana & Grandpa R come visit. We can't wait for more visits from family and friends in the coming months.
I went to work yesterday to the vet clinic. While there, I decided to weigh Taeya to see how much she has grown. They have a baby scale for the kittens and puppies. :) With her diaper on, she weighed 6 lbs 10 oz. So, in just over 2 weeks she's put on 1 lb 3 oz. As my mom said when she was here, you can almost see her change every day. She now has a little double chin, fat rolls around her wrists and I can no longer squeeze her skin and make wrinkles on her skull and the rest of her body because she's finally grown into her skin. She's as beautiful as ever and I can't wait to see how much she's going to grow and change in the coming year. I thank the Lord every night for my beautiful baby and pray that she will grow in the knowledge of Him.

A 4:37 AM Post-The Many Faces of Taeya
We had a very nice time with my parents visiting. They left to go home on the train at 8:00 pm on Wednesday night (their train was 6 1/2 hours late due to previous delays). However, they made it safely on the train and are hopefully home by now. I have some photos of their time with us that I'm going to post soon. For now, I have a number of Taeya's cute little faces that she makes. You might notice in the pictures that she's starting to get a double chin. She's definitely putting on weight. She turns one month old tomorrow and although she still fits in all of her littlest outfits, her tiny hats are harder to fit on her little head. She's still a wonderful baby-which I am SOOOO thankful for. She's constantly making us laugh with her expressions and body movements. Enjoy the new pics!
The photos aren't super exciting new shots but hey, there's only so many interesting pictures you can take of a one month old. :)
Oh, and Elisha, in answer to your questions, we ate at Hickory House in Aspen on our trip down there and attend New Hope Church. Well, off to bed again.

Photo Shoot Pointers
First of all, I am NOT a real photographer so my advice is probably not going to be what a real photographer would say. :)
When I did the photo shoot with Taeya I knew I needed good lighting. Natural is usually best and since I didn't have the help of professional lights, I decided to set up my spot near a window. I didn't want direct sunlight on Taeya because then it would be too bright and would also have stronger shadows. I took the pictures in the morning next to a window where the light was coming in but wasn't direct. (We have lots of snow right now so it helped make the room brighter).
For the backdrop, I used a large, soft white blanket that Phil bought me for Christmas. I think anything can really work as a backdrop, it just needs to be big enough and the color that you want. I liked the softness of the blanket I chose because it showed up a little in the pictures but wasn't overwhelming. Even a solid sheet can work.
I took the pictures on our bed. In order to create something to hold up the backdrop, I actually put the bassinet on the back edge of the bed and draped the blanket over it. You want to leave some space (a couple of feet if possible) between the photo subject and the backdrop. It'll help make the backdrop stay in the background of the pictures and not be as visible in the pictures.
In the JC Penny's photo studio, I saw them use rolled up blankets underneath their drape to give Taeya something to hold her or prop her against. I rolled up a towel and just put it in a "U shape" under the blanket so that she wasn't laying flat on the bed. While I took pics, I moved her into different positions, in front of it, behind it, draped over the top etc.
For the setting on my camera, I chose the flower symbol for closeup pictures. This allows the camera to focus on her and again, not get as much detail in the background. I didn't use flash at all. I don't remember actually turning it off (although I may have) but the lighting was bright enough that I didn't need flash.
Then, I just took tons of pics! Don't be afraid to keep shooting because 9 out of 10 pictures won't be one of your favorites. I have many where Taeya was moving around or her hand was in front of her face etc. I just had a lot of fun and made it work for us. I'll try to re-set-up what I did later today so that you can see pictures for a better visualization. I did find the bassinet wasn't wide enough so I had a hard time getting the corners of my pictures to have the backdrop in them.
Hope this helps. Please post some pictures if you try this at home (and leave me a comment)! I want to see your results! Have fun!

JC Penny's Photos
I just got the link for the JC Penny's pictures we had done. Family members, before you order any, please contact me because we purchased a number of wallets of our favorite poses and we'll send you a copy if we have one of the one you want. Taeya wasn't super happy during the photo shoot but the pics are still pretty cute. To see the pics just go to:

Enjoy!

Wide Awake Video
Today is Taeya's official due date! I can't believe how much fun I've had with her in the 2 1/2 weeks she's been out in the world. Although today is her due-date, she would have been delivered 1 week ago by c-section if she remained breech.
Today was her first day at church and she had MANY admirers. She was a very popular little girl.
At some point in the next day or so, I'll post how I took Taeya's pictures at home as SJ requested. For now, enjoy a video of my precious girl looking at the world around her. Oh, the faces she makes. She makes us laugh all of the time. ...Of course I couldn't get the video to upload in blogger so I put it on YouTube. Check it out at the following URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlTjSsvjGzw

Home Photo Session
Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Taeya did great but she did pee on my brand new blanket Phil gave me for Christmas during the photo session...shhhh don't tell him! (Taeya's 16 days old at the time of these photos)
These are all also in color but I like the black and white because it gets rid of the impurities in the color. I have so many more but these are some of my favorites.
Tell me what YOUR favorites are when you leave a comment.

Taeya's Poochie Face
When Taeya starts to get upset she gets this really cute poochie face. Quite often, that's as far as it gets. However, if she gets going she gets really mad.
Today I had fun doing a "photo session" with her. I mimicked what JCPenny's did so I could practice my photography. It's fun since I have such a cute model. I'll post pictures of those later.

Doctor Day
Yesterday, we had three different doctor appointments to go to. Taeya had her two week appointment where she got weighed and stuck on her heal twice. :( She almost needed a third stick since she didn't bleed much. She didn't cry when they first stuck her at all and she cried for about 5 seconds after the second stick...then she just rested with her eyes closed. I love the picture Phil took as we were waiting for the doctor to come in.
Later, I went to my OB appointment which was short and sweet and then my liver doctor appointment. I was tired by the time we got home and had dinner (which someone from church lovingly provided for us) so I went to bed about 7:30. It was wonderful! I got about 11 hours of sleep last night as I woke up at 8:00 this morning. EDIT: I did NOT get 11 straight hours of sleep. I had to wake up to feed Taeya 3 times. All three times equalled about 1.5 hours. Just didn't want anyone to think I was starving my baby!
Life is good!
Tayea after her bath time. She loves getting all snuggled up in the towel.
Taeya LOVES having her hands by her face (or in her eyes). We swaddle her really tightly at night but she often still manages to get one or both hands out and by her face. You can see in the seoond picture why we try to keep her hands down (she wakes herself up when she pokes her eyes).
More pics of her unswaddled. The hands automatically end up on the face.
